goals
day after day, i strive to reach the top of the mountain, to stand amongst the clouds where the eagles soar. and then i realized something...you know what's up there?

eagle crap.

fear me
in a demonstration of my great powers, i shall force chaos upon the world by no less than changing time itself. this sunday morning, at exactly 2am, i shall not only stop, but actually roll back time by exactly one hour.

now tremble in my presence, for i am great and mighty.

disappointing news for the monkeys

apparently, a near infinite amount of monkeys at a near infinite amount of typewriters actually could *not* write the entire works of shakespeare, as had been previously assumed. in fact, if you look at the numbers, the stupid little bastards aren't ever even likely to even deliver the first line from hamlet, even with a supply of intergalactic supermonkeys capable of typing over 40 characters per second.

even though the task is nearly impossible -- if not daunting -- it is comforting to know that we're technologically prepared. RFC2795 provides a mechanism by which to capture and review the aggregate works of infinite monkeys.

funniest damn thing i've ever seen

at spike and mike's sick and twisted festival of animation last year, i saw the funniest damn 9 minutes of stick figures i've ever seen while (mostly) sober...it was a little cartoon by don hertzfeldt called "rejected," from bitter films.

if you are going to buy any 9 minute animated short featuring wavy stick figures this year, then it must be this 9 minute animated short featuring wavy stick figures. rumor has it you can also catch it on cartoon network during "adult swim":

Ahoy! Rejected is currently scheduled to premiere on the Cartoon Network on Sunday, November 3rd at 10:30pm
(that's 9:30CST for all you midwesterners).

catch it, and maybe more of you will understand why i'm so obsessed with the fear that somewhere, some how, monkeys are pouring coffee in my boots.

materialism versus laziness

i wonder if i were to clone myself if i'd want twice as much stuff, or if the other me would be happy to share my things?

i wonder this because i don't really like working away 5/7ths of my prime time. people say i'd get bored without a job. i say as long as technology continues to adapt i'm gonna be able to find something to do.

i could quit, of course. but then i can't get "stuff." i like stuff. so i need a clone, to share the load. wouldn't be so bad working odd days.

i figure my clone could work monday, wednesday, and friday, then i could work tuesdays and thursdays, and we'd both have the weekend off. i think everything would be okay up until the weekend. of course, then i'd have someone to play the two-player playstation games with. i'd need another computer for the evenings and weekends, naturally. and it would probably be best to clone my wife while i'm at it, because even if the other person was also me i just don't think some things are for sharin'.

and another thing

you may have noticed the change to the front page of the site, if you came in through that door. what you may not have noticed is that it is all text; it isn't an image with a filter applied. translation from image to html courtesy of Patrik Roos on his site www.text-image.com.

it's done thru a pike script. he makes the source available. and again, i'm hoping to translate it to a stand-alone app, which will probably never happen.

and here we are again

yes, another near month has passed since last I posted an update. i told me this would happen.

this post is primarily guilt-based, so there will be at least be a little new content up here. i think i want to develop my own local blog tool in vb.net that uses xml, sql, and asp. i'd like it to allow multiple people to post, without need for a local tool. should be pretty easy, but i'll probably never get around to that, either. so if you know of one, fire me an email to "trackzero" at this domain.
